2026 Beijing Auto Show Signals a New Era for EV Exports: 9-Minute Charging, L3 Autonomy, and Accelerating Global Ambitions

2026 Beijing Auto Show

The 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition — one of the world's largest auto shows — delivered a clear message to the global automotive trade community: Chinese automakers are no longer followers; they are setters of global trends. For international buyers and automotive import-export professionals, the show provided a critical preview of products and technologies heading to global markets within the next 12–24 months.

Among the headline developments was the mass-market debut of 9-minute ultra-fast charging technology, a capability that directly addresses the single greatest barrier to EV adoption in markets where infrastructure is limited. For export markets in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa — where public charging is sparse — vehicles with this capability represent a fundamentally new value proposition. BYD, alongside domestic rivals, showcased production-ready models carrying this technology slated for export release in late 2026.

Level 3 (L3) Autonomous Driving

Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving was another defining theme of the show. Several Chinese brands unveiled production vehicles capable of hands-free highway driving, overtaking established Western marques in deploying this capability at mass-market price points. For export-oriented brands like Geely and BYD, these features represent a significant competitive differentiator in markets where technology-forward consumers are willing to pay a premium.

The show also spotlighted the accelerating "overseas expansion" phase of China's auto industry. Multiple brands announced new localization investments: GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) confirmed a Brazilian manufacturing facility slated to open in the second half of 2026, following BYD, Chery, and Great Wall Motor who have already established production operations there. Brazil's NEV market — where Chinese brands held a 65% share in 2024 with over 110,000 units sold — exemplifies how quickly brand allegiance can shift once local supply chains are in place.

For international buyers and distributors working with Jinji Auto Import & Export, these macro-level developments have practical, near-term implications. Toyota continues to release advanced hybrid models through its Chinese joint ventures that remain highly competitive on total-cost-of-ownership in emerging markets. Hyundai is leveraging its South Korean engineering reputation alongside competitive pricing to capture fleet and government procurement contracts across Africa and Southeast Asia. Geely, owner of Volvo and Lotus, is deploying premium EV technology across its mainstream lineup, creating export vehicles with European safety and technology credentials at Chinese production costs.

The CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers) projects that while headline export growth will moderate to approximately 5.8% in 2026, the quality and technology content of exported vehicles will continue to rise sharply. This means that buyers sourcing vehicles today at current price points may be acquiring technology that will command significantly higher premiums within a few years — a compelling argument for early-mover importers to lock in supply agreements now.

At Jinji Auto Import & Export, we track these developments closely to ensure our clients in over 50 countries have access to the most competitive models, most favorable pricing, and most reliable logistics and compliance support. Whether you are sourcing a fleet of Toyota hybrids for a rental company in the UAE, procuring BYD electric buses for a municipal transit authority in Europe, or building a used-car dealership network in Latin America with Geely or Hyundai inventory — we are your trusted partner for every step of the journey.

Our story

When The Light Went On

The idea for Acrospire was formed in 2012 when founder Tim envisioned a different kind of lighting manufacturer: one that would not only deliver outstanding customer experiences but also prioritise fair treatment for its employees.

We’ve come a long way

Working from any nook and cranny we could find

Motivated by the belief the industry wanted and needed better, Tim shared his plan to establish his own venture with Hatty, who simply couldn't let him do it alone.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Protecting local jobs and ensuring the best quality possible.

The products sold should, where possible be manufactured here in the UK

Working from a rented office by day and assembling lanterns in a garage at night, Tim and Hatty set to work.

11 Years later

and a lot has changed

Acrospire now inhabits a 14000² ft manufacturing facility in Basingstoke, Hampshire. We’re a proud partner of the Made in Britain scheme, ISO9001 certified and a member of all relevant lighting industry trade bodies.
